The President’s Message

Tony Mustaro

Dear Friends,

I understand that I missed some great entertainment at our April meeting last month.  Thanks to all of those members who played for our club and a special thanks to the fine musicians from the Petaluma Methodist Church Open Mic group.  This month our featured entertainer will be our own Steve Balich who will be changing from his chef’s hat to his vice president’s hat and finally into his entertainer’s hat.  That’s right we will be having another ACR Pasta Feed before this month’s regular meeting, so invite your friends and neighbors to join us for  some good food and good music.  It’s the best show and the best dinner deal in town!

The officers and other board members thank you for your renewed vote of confidence in reelecting all of us for another term.  We do our best for the club and are always open to input from all of the members.  Next year you might want to consider trying to take some of our jobs away by running for office yourself.  We all do really encourage your active participation in the management of the club.

We have one more meeting in June after this month’s meeting and then it’s July and you know what that means.  Our annual ACR summer picnic.   As I mentioned in my last message we have a new venue for this years picnic.  Finn and Jeanie have graciously offered the use of their ranch for our picnic.  For those of you who haven’t been there before, you are in for a very pleasant surprise.  There is ample parking, shade and a very nice covered area for dancing and playing music.  It is located at 4107 Hessel Road in Sebastopol, and is very easy to find. See the directions in our flyer.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the dinner this month before the meeting.  Bring your family, friends, and neighbors and your appetite!

April 2012 Entertainment

Our entertainment portion of our April meeting started with Santa Rosa resident Guy Richards. Guy was our featured musician at our April meeting. Guy is an accomplished artist and a wonderful showman. He played his white Iorio Cantina accordion and performed “Oh Danny Boy,” and a lively Jewish medley.

Next on our stage were Tom & Kay Newburg playing their twin button box accordions. They played a German song translated as “Gold Miner’s Polka,” and Kay sang as they played “Let’s Have a Party.”

Frank Divita was our third artist. He played his Elka accordion . His set included a German song “Race Track Song,” also “Jamaica Farewell,” and “Danube Waltz.”

Steve Balich closed out the first half of the program. Borrowing Elmo Fama’s huge Guilietti accordion, Steve Played “Jennie’s Mazuka,” “La Paloma,” “Alley Cat,” “Sheik of Araby.” Kay Newberg sang along with Steve on his last two songs “Oh, How He Lied,” and “ Marianna.”

CIMG0988-psCIMG0990-psFollowing a brief intermission Kris Nelson Introduced accomplished pianist Aldo Girabaldi who kept us spellbound with his excellent variety of old favorite songs. To finish off the night Kris introduced the Petaluma’s United Methodist Church “Open Micronauts.” They featured pianist Bob Johns, violinist Candace English, Saxophone player David Scott, drummer Al Sanerco and vocalist Kris Nelson. This talented group entertained us with “Great Balls of Fire,” “As Time Goes By,” “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?” We were fortunate top have all of them as our featured guests.
